1. What are the challenges faced by Radha Damodar Travelling Sankirtan party ?

   1. Formed in the US in 1975-1976 - by HH Tamala Krishna Goswami, ACBS mood was his top priority - Book distribution - he repeatedly highlighted - Books are the Basis. Devotees are already getting books distributed from temple but it was not enough so HH TKM he introduced the Travelling Sankirtan Party solely for Book is Distribution, they purchased a Bus and called is mobile ashram - ACBS’s reaction was that he was extremely happy. He said if this is the case then run a competition between the devotees. ACBS saw this a LCM’s mission and fulfillment of prophecy - In Every Town and Village my holy name will be chanted - Issues - Tension and conflict with temple president - because when disciples go out distributing books - the score of temple used to reduce, jurisdictional dispute - Healthy competition became Rivalry and it became a numbers game and stopped focussing on Love for ACBS and his books - Disciples even lost track of 4 regulative principles - ACBS always asked for Enthusiasm not for Fanaticism. ACBS emphasized - Honesty and that Book distribution should be done with Integrity and not Force. Difficulty for disciples - Despite the challenges - TSP became the most successful Book distribution party. A disciple should always work in harmony and Love towards ACBS - My understanding - A disciple should always do BD with Love, Compassion and Integrity to everyone and not force anything upon anyone.

2. In July 1976 - ACBS was criticized by a press reported for his views on the position of Women in the society and how did ACBS defend and what quality of ACBS comes out ?

   1. American reporters asked about Women in Iskcon - as they used to leave the family - husbands, parents etc and join KC - Some reporters also accused ACBS that the society was male-dominated - According to Vedic culture women should not be independent - ACBS reaction was that 1st he did not compromise his standard, he was not manufacturing any ideas, he was presenting the scriptural views as it is, protection does not mean oppression, they should not see the soul as wither a male or female, His response was very clear - he did not get angry and he did not compromise on his standards or thought of being politically correct - the soul is known by their spiritual identity - prabhuji’s and mataji’s used to strictly live in separate ashrams - even in temples he partitioned mataji’s on one side and prabhuji’s on the other side - the following ACBS qualities are depicted - Nirbhaya - not fearful of political or social views, Fidelity to Spiritual master and Parampara - Don’t compromise on Spiritual principles for Social acceptance, Full Conviction, Very very compassionate towards the women - women were allowed to participate in all aspects of devotional service - deity worship, kitchen serving, book distribution - ex: Fiji temple is fully run by the ?

   1. ACBS presented at the BBT - in 2 months we need 17 books- devotees were already busy working on other books - ACBS was not harsh as he himself was 79 years old. Time was short and main instruction from his guru maharaja was to Print Books - My only credit is - I followed the instructions of my Spiritual master - While on the contrary he was being more compassionate as more books means more changes to liberating conditioned souls.    1. 1977 in Vrindavan - Krishna Balaram temple - he was extremely weak - stopped eating solids, yet dictating Bhagavatam, everyone were in shock that their spiritual master was about to leave the world but disciples still had hope that Ayurvedic medicine would save ACBS - Dr Kaviraj came with other doctors and they were trying their best to revive ACBS and GBC came to ACBS - 2 people were sitting close to Prabhupada - HH Jayapathaka Swami and HH Tamal Krishna goswami maharaj - Devotees could not see how such an active person had become bed-ridden but still dictating and HH Tamal Krishna goswami maharaj was holding the microphone and disciples were undergoing in the Viraha bhaav - beauty of separation from their Spiritual master, ACBS wants the photos of deities, lord narasimha and his spiritual master on the walls, sing continuous kiran in a soft and subtle way and continuously reading BG and SBV - For disciples he always remained Acharya and Spiritual Father and Master for everyone. 1. ACBS arrives in the London airport and receives a grand welcome into VIP lounge - organized by Apple Records and Lufthansa Airlines - He meets his disciples, conducts a kirtan and his disciples are very excited to personally see him after a long time.

2. ACBS explains the peace formula for the whole world - One those can be happy who recognize the Supreme Personality of Godhead as the proprietor of everything, the object of all sacrifices, and the friend of everyone.

3. Sales of Hare Krishna record hits high numbers across the world. On the day ACBS arrived Syamasundara spoke-up - “our records sold 50,000 copies yesterday” - ACBS remarks that all that money and their energy should go toward the opening of the temple in the city.

3. ACBS has KC must run on 2 parallel lines - One rail was Bhagavata Marga - “Hearing, Chanting and Preaching.” The other rail was Pancaratrika Vidhi - “Rules and regulations of worshipping deities in the Temple” and of the 2 Bhagavata Marga was more important.

4. ACBS is invited to Jaipur Radha Govinda temple to preach and establish Iskcon by his devotees Kaushalya and Srimati.

5. The purpose of taking Sanyasa as Prabupada said is “Travelling and Preaching and working with all their might to reclaim the fallen souls on behalf of Lord Krishna”

6. ACBS explains the duties of 2 main classes of devotees - Grhasthas were to manage temples as presidents and GBC secretaries and Sanyasis were to Travel and Preach.

6. While visiting Vrindavan ACBS introduces his foreign devotees in his speech and explains how they were purified - page 267. KC is “sarvopadhi-vinirmuktam” - only after being freed from all designations one can take to KC. In KC everyone has only one designation a “Pure Servant of Krishna”.

7. He states how they were purified just by patiently listening and hearing to Lord Krishna’s pass-times - “srnvatam sva-kathah krishnah” - Upon hearing Krishna katha - Lord Krishna purifies from within.

8. ACBS also explained how powerful the Holy name is to elevate anyone regardless of their birth and designation similar to the pass-time of Haridasa Thakura. He further states that by the instructions of his guru maharaja and by following 4 regulative principles they were purified and were then under his shelter. 1. ACBS travels to Calcutta. He is received by his family and devotees of the Goswami math. Stays at his sister Bhavatarini mataji’s home.

2. He conducts regular kirtans and gives lectures and he remarks - “My only qualification is that I have unflinching faith in my spiritual master” - as if by divine intervention an large firecracker explodes to confirm this.

3. ACBS travels to Navadvipa along with Achyutananda and Ramanuja. Both Sridhar maharaja’s disciples and Keshava maharajas disciples receive ACBS.

4. At Sridhar Maharaja’s asrama during his vyasa puja - Sridhara maharaja gives a very scientific lecture and most of the disciples are impressed and ACBS remarks to his devotees - “Sridhara maharaja has very high realizations but he is keeping them to himself”

5. Sridhar Maharaja also speaks highly of ACBS’s efforts (and praises “Krishna Consciousness”) to bring to truth Lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu’s prophecy and their Spiritual masters desire by preaching across the world.
